Exciting Site Updates!
Ok, maybe only exciting to me. But, if you poke around you’ll notice a few additions to the site:
Ask Questions, Get Answers is where to go for things beyond the scope of this website. This page has a link to a variety of my posts on Yahoo! Answers. Generally, I try to help out in areas of the Education section such as Homework Help, Homeschooling and Standardized Tests. Posting a question on Yahoo! Answers has a good chance of being answered by me and other knowledgeable people. This page also has my book recommendations, as well as a handy search form for searching for books by keyword. And, purchasing a book through Amazon after clicking on the link on my page will throw some spare change my way. So, donating fifty cents you were going to spend anyway is a nice way to thank me for all the information I organize and give away for free here, don’t you think?
And speaking of cash. . . there’s now a Financial Aid page with links directly to the appropriate pages on each Ontario university’s website, plus some scholarship links.
The Home School High School section is growing with added pages for planning your high school years depeding on the route to university you plan to take, information on Ontario credit courses and where to get them, a place where my many math notes and lessons will eventually reside, as well as the official Top Six explanation page!
And the University Admissions section now has a page (albeit a sparse one) devoted to Standardized Tests. Expect to see this one fill out in the coming weeks.
All of these new additions are easily accessible from any page within this website just by clicking in the sidebar, so they should be nice and easy to find and explore at your leisure.
If you read my older post “IB vs. AP” you may be interested in revisiting it now that I’ve included comparisons with the SAT Subject Tests (formerly called SAT II tests) as well.
So if you haven’t looked around in a while, I invite you to do so!

// Begin Comments & Trackbacks ?>We decided to use Saxon 87 with pre-algebra because of the daily math warm-up and timed drills. Although most of the text is a review, my son is using this time to increase speed, organization, and improve communication of his thought processes. I have found that as the skills have improved, so has his abilility to communicate his thinking. He is ahead of the grade 7 math curriculum expectations so there really is no need to rush through. He will finish the Saxon text in April at which time we will look at the “public school texts” and address any gaps. He will use Algebra 1/2 for grade 8.
My 9.5 year old is working totally independently through Saxon 65 with impressive results.
Thank you, thank you, and thank you again for unselfishly providing your years of wisdom, advice, and knowledge about homeschooling in Ontario. I emailed you some months back regarding Saxon’s math program and how it equates to the Ontario curriculum. You very promptly responded, and I have been a fan of yours since. I check your site first thing every day along with my morning coffee. Thanks again for sharing.
