Today’s OUAC deadline extended to January 11, 2008
Just a quick reminder that today is was the “deadline” for Ontario secondary students to submit applications to the OUAC. (Applications received after this date will still be processed, but this is the date by which they wanted to have everyone’s initial application completed.)
The deadline has been extended to Friday, January 11, 2008. So, what this means is that by the end of the week, if you’re applying for September 2008 entry, you should finish your application. You can still make changes to program selections after this point, but getting at least a completed version of the application in by Friday means that they can start processing your file.
The OUAC recommends that, in order to meet individual universities’ own deadlines, you make any changes to this application by February 5, 2008. Again, this is not necessarily a hard deadline, but some universities will close applications to more competitive programs around this time. (If there is still space in a program, you can technically apply as late as the school is willing to take you.)
If you do meet these “deadlines” then you are guaranteed to receive responses from the university by May 26, 2008. If you don’t, then you’re likely to be waiting to see which schools still have spaces left over in June/July. The earliest that a school can require a decision from you is May 28, 2008. So, meeting these dates means that you can be assured that the schools you’ve applied to will all get back to you in time for you to make your final decision knowing exactly which schools have or haven’t accepted you.
Changes to the OUAC application (before February 5) are not a big deal — I substituted one school for another after my application had been sent in with no problem. The important thing is to get a completed application in this week, and if you have second thoughts about your school selections, just change ‘em later.
