Scholarships for Homeschoolers at Ontario Universities

Unfortunately, only a few universities offer scholarships for homeschoolers. Often, automatic entrance scholarships are based only on the grades of 12U courses. So, some universities will consider homeschoolers who present the Top Six for these entrance scholarships, but are unable to offer these scholarships in the absence of accredited 12U courses.

There is currently only one scholarship in Ontario specifically for homeschoolers. The Sarah and Joe Rainsberger Entrance Bursary for Homeschooled Students is available to students applying to the Glendon campus of York University.

Student Loans

All students may apply for OSAP (Ontario student loans) and Canada Student Loans. When you apply to university through the OUAC (common application system), you will be asked whether you’d like information on student loans at that time. You can simply check “yes” and you will automatically be forwarded the information you need. Even if you check yes, you are under no obligation to accept the loans, so it never hurts to ask for information!

For Canadian scholarships, be sure to visit the following two sites to see whether there’s a scholarship out there that you qualify for: http://www.scholarshipscanada.com/ and http://www.studentawards.com/
